Wait and see...

Filmographie 1 films

1967 - Ne jouez pas avec les Martiens (Lanoë)1978 - Follie di notte (D'Amato)1978 - Zio Adolfo, in arte Führer (Castellano, Moccia)1997 - Bimboland (Ariel Zeitoun)2002 - Le pari (Li)

Saturday, June 10, 2006

Shanghai Biennale

Hou Hanru Appointed Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs at San Francisco Art Institute

The curator of the 10th International Istanbul Biennial, Hou Hanru appointed Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs and Chair of SFAI's Exhibition and Museum Studies program, effective July 1.

As Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs, Hou Hanru will be responsible for formulating and overseeing exhibitions in SFAI's Walter and McBean galleries, which have been significant venues for exhibiting contemporary art since 1969. Additionally, Hou will be responsible for overseeing SFAI's distinguished visiting artist and scholar residency programs, which bring dozens of prominent cultural practitioners to the school every year to deliver public lectures, participate in salons and symposia, and work directly with students. As Chair of SFAI's Exhibition and Museum Studies program, Hou will provide an international vision for understanding the relationship between museums, exhibitions, and contemporary culture.

“A gifted curator and writer, and an astute intellectual, Hou is one of the most insightful and articulate curatorial thinkers today, whose work has had an enormous impact on how we understand the field of contemporary art globally,” said Dean of Academic Affairs Okwui Enwezor.

Istanbul Biennial is not only a major international exhibition of contemporary art. It can also be a wonderful laboratory to explore the new relationships between art activities and social life in the current geopolitical situation. Also, it's an event firmly rooted in the city itself. Based on this different curatorial models and understanding of creative practices can be experiments, with a larger opening in terms of geographic and cultural perspectives. These issues are also the main visions and strategies that HouHanru would like to develop in his new position in SFAI, seeking to restructure the exhibition programs and spaces in a more open, experimental and multidisciplinary process. The space is not only for exhibiting final works, it's at first a site of production and test-ground.

To connect the Istanbul Biennial project and the SFAI exhibition programs is also a central strategy that Hou Hanru tries to develop. This reflects the new model of curatorial practice that efforts to construct a truly global network to promote dialogues between different localities.
